2014 Super Bowl, MVP odds: Peyton Manning clear betting choice

Super Bowl MVP betting typically focuses on quarterbacks, who have won four straight. So Peyton Manning is the odds-on favorite to win in Super Bowl 48, while Russell Wilson is the second pick.

The Denver Broncos are currently favored to win the Super Bowl, and if they do, it is difficult to see anyone other than Peyton Manning winning the award for the game’s MVP.

Manning is the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP Award at 11/10, with teammates Demaryius Thomas, Knowshon Moreno and Wes Welker going off at longer odds of 20/1 each.

Despite the fact that Seattle is known for its shutdown defense, the MVP is almost always awarded to the top offensive performer of the game, as has been the case in each of the last 10 Super Bowls.

The favorite in odds to win the Super Bowl MVP Award for the Seahawks is quarterback Russell Wilson at 7/2, but not far behind him is tailback Marshawn Lynch at 4/1. Lynch could become the first running back to win the award since Bronco Terrell Davis back in 1998, according to the list of Super Bowl player props.

How will Peyton Manning fare against this daunting Seattle defense? This matchup will likely determine the outcome of the game, and bettors that have a lean can bet on props as well. The Over/Under on passing yards for Peyton Manning is set at 290.5 and the total on touchdown passes is set at 2.5.

Manning has been held under 291 passing yards just four times in 18 games this season including the game he sat out the second half against Oakland.

The Super Bowl prop odds on Lynch rushing yards is currently set at 87.5, a total that he has eclipsed nine times this season. Lynch is a minus-165 favorite to score at least one touchdown in the game, going off at plus-135 to be kept off the board.

In a head-to-head player prop bet on which running back in the game will rush for more yards, Lynch is minus-20.5 yards against Knowshon Moreno (plus-20.5).

Richard Sherman has been stealing headlines all week and will look to have a big impact in the Super Bowl as well. Sherman’s odds (at 5Dimes.eu) to win Super Bowl MVP are 25/1 and odds of recording an interception are plus-200, with odds against an interception set at minus-260.
