Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Betting odds, prediction, trends, preview

Kansas has dominated Iowa State over the years, but the odds give the Cyclones a real shot against the Jayhawks and the computer pick says ISU!

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Over their last six games, the Kansas Jayhawks have looked the part of a national contender with a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS record in conference play.

Kansas hosts the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night as an 8-point favorite at home, according to the college basketball odds menu at OddsShark.com. The total was 154.5.

Andrew Wiggins continues to develop his game at the college level as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 15.8 points per game. But Wiggins isn’t the only freshman making an impact on this year’s team as 7’0” center Joel Embiid has chipped in with 11.2 points per game and a team-leading 7.4 rebounds per game.

Since a disappointing 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS slump back in early November, Kansas has gone 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS over its last 10 games, restoring faith in those early bets on March Madness to see KU win it all.

The Iowa State Cyclones are going in the other direction, hitting a mid-season slump here in January after getting off to an excellent start. The Cyclones started the season off 14-0 SU and 9-2-1 ATS including some impressive wins over Iowa, Michigan, and Boise State.

But since then, Iowa State is just 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS with road losses to Oklahoma and Texas and a home loss to Kansas.

Including Kansas’ win earlier this month, the Jayhawks have completely dominated the Iowa State Cyclones in recent years. Kansas is 17-1 SU and 10-7-1 ATS over its last 18 games against Iowa State including a current 3-0 ATS run. Kansas is 8-0 SU and 4-3-1 ATS in its last eight home games against the Cyclones (per the NCAA basketball database).

Six of the last eight games between these two Big 12 rivals have gone OVER the posted total. Five of Kansas’ last six games and each of its last three have also gone OVER, while Iowa State has gone OVER in each of its last two games.

Current form and recent history between these two teams points to a Kansas victory on Wednesday. Iowa State has lost by eight or more points in each of its last eight trips to Kansas, losing by an average margin of 18.1 points per game over that stretch.

The Cyclones will have to find their early season form to have a shot on Wednesday. Check basketball point spreads and totals on every game every day.

Computer Prediction: 80-74 Jayhawks
