Lions vs. Saints 2015 odds: Detroit underdogs in MNF betting vs. New Orleans

The Detroit Lions will try to snap a two-game losing streak when they visit the New Orleans Saints as betting underdogs this Monday night.

The Detroit Lions are 2-7 straight up and 0-9 against the spread in their last nine road games in the month of December. The Lions will try to cover the spread on the road in December for the first time since 2010 this Monday night when they visit the New Orleans Saints.

Detroit is a 3-point road underdog at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. New Orleans has gone just 2-9-1 ATS in its last 12 games as the betting favorite.

After ending November on a 3-0 SU and ATS run with wins over Green Bay, Oakland and Philadelphia, the Lions appeared to be on their way to a strong finish. But in the team’s last two games, the Lions failed to defend a Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers on the final play of a 27-23 loss to the Packers, and last week lost 21-14 as a 3-point road favorite against the Rams.

Detroit is now 4-9 SU and ATS on the season including a 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS record on the road.

The Lions haven’t enjoyed much success against the New Orleans Saints in recent years with a 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS record in their last five games against New Orleans per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The 2015 Saints are best known for their horrible defense, which ranks second-worst in the NFL in total yardage allowed (414.8 yards per game) and dead last in scoring defense (30.5 points per game against). The Saints rank second in the league in passing offense and 10th in overall scoring, but with such a porous defense have only gone 5-8 SU and 6-6-1 ATS on the season.

New Orleans did break a four-game losing streak with a 24-17 win over the Buccaneers last week, and will try to build on that momentum this Monday night.

Monday night’s total is set at 51.5 points. The UNDER is 13-3 in Detroit’s last 16 games on the road.

This one could easily go either way, and both teams are just playing for pride at this point. But with home-field advantage and the edge on offense, look for the Saints to pick up the win and cover at home.
