NBA Title Futures: Cavaliers, Warriors lead odds to win the championship

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors lead the pack on the NBA futures with the playoffs right around the corner.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors entered their Tuesday night matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on a 7-0 straight up and against-the-spread run over their last seven games. The Warriors have run away with the Western Conference during the regular season and will be a legitimate title contender this postseason.

Golden State is going off at 12/5 odds to win the NBA championship, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. With a solid grasp on the NBA's best record, Golden State figures to have home court advantage throughout the postseason. At home this year, the Warriors have been nearly unbeatable, with a 34-2 SU and 25-10-1 ATS record.

The Warriors' biggest threat in the Western Conference could end up being the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio ended a three-game homestand against Memphis with a win and cover on Sunday to improve to 13-3 SU and 12-4 ATS over its last 16 games. The Spurs are going off at 6/1 on the odds to win the NBA title this season.

In the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the odds-on favorite to win the NBA championship at 2/1 at the sportsbooks. Since starting the season off with a 19-20 SU and 14-25 ATS record, the Cavaliers have gelled into one of the NBA's best teams with a 29-7 SU and 24-12 ATS record over their last 36 games. In the soft Eastern Conference, Cleveland is expected to have an easy path into the conference finals.

In the conference finals, the Cavaliers may meet the Atlanta Hawks, who are the Eastern Conference's top seed at 56-18 SU and 45-29 ATS. Like Golden State, the Hawks have been a strong home team this season with a 32-5 SU and 22-15 ATS record on home court. The Hawks will try to use that home court to their advantage in the playoffs.

Other potential contenders for the NBA title this season include the Houston Rockets (14/1), Memphis Grizzlies (14/1), Chicago Bulls (16/1), and Los Angeles Clippers (18/1). Some of the longer shots include the Oklahoma City Thunder (33/1), Portland Trail Blazers (33/1), Dallas Mavericks (40/1) and Toronto Raptors (40/1).
