2015 Belmont Stakes odds: Morning line released
American Pharoah is the unsurprising heavy favorite to win the Belmont Stakes.
The leading challengers behind American Pharoah are Frosted, the fourth-place finisher at the Kentucky Derby, who received 5-1 odds on Wednesday, and Materiality, the sixth-place finisher at the Kentucky Derby, who has 6-1 odds. Neither of the top two challengers participated in the Preakness.
The field will feature only eight horses, the smallest field since 2007, after a pair were pulled from the event earlier this week.
At the drawing on Wednesday, American Pharoah received the 5 post, which is at the middle of the field. At the Kentucky Derby, American Pharoah started far on the outside with the 17 post and won the Preakness from the inside with the 1 post.
Seattle Slew and Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1977 and 1978, respectively, but no horse has been able to win all three since, although American Pharoah is the 14th to reach the Belmont Stakes with wins in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and the third horse in the last four years.
Below are the odds for each horse in the Belmont Stakes organized by post position:
