Cleveland is a -230 favorite to win the World Series at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Cubs, who opened as -130 favorites to win the championship, are now going off at +190 to win it all.
The same dominant pitching that helped the Indians advance to the World Series helped Cleveland take a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Cubs in Chicago. Cleveland picked up its fifth shutout win of the postseason in a 1-0 win in Game 3, and followed that up with another dominant pitching performance in Game 4 in a 7-2 win.
By pitching on short rest in Game 4, Corey Kluber positioned himself to be ready to start on short rest again in Game 7 should the team need him to take the mound.
Josh Tomlin will get the ball for Cleveland in Game 6 against Jake Arrieta. The Indians are 7-1 in Tomlin's last eight starts including four straight wins this October per the OddsShark MLB Database.
After looking hopeless at the plate through their first two games at home, the Cubs finally put together a big inning with three runs in the bottom of the fourth in Game 5. Those three runs would be all that the Cubs would muster up, but it would be enough to force a Game 6 thanks to a strong start from Jon Lester and an eight-out save from Aroldis Chapman.
Chicago’s offense will get a boost in Cleveland as Kyle Schwarber will be able to return to the starting lineup as the designated hitter.
Jake Arrieta and the Cubs are a -153 favorite to win Game 6 as Josh Tomlin and the Indians are going off as +138 underdogs at home. If Chicago is able to pull off the win and force a Game 7, Kyle Kendricks would be called upon to face Kluber in the winner-take-all contest on Wednesday night.
