Grizzlies vs. Spurs 2016 odds: San Antonio heavy Game 2 favorite vs. depleted Memphis

After blowing out the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1, the San Antonio Spurs will try to keep the momentum in Game 2 of the first-round series.

Including their win in Game 1 on Sunday, the San Antonio Spurs are 41-1 straight up and 24-18 against the spread at home this season. The league’s most dominant home team will look to continue that dominance on Tuesday in Game 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

San Antonio is an 18.5-point home favorite for Game 2 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Spurs were a 16.5-point favorite in Sunday’s series opener.

Over the last 13 games of the regular season, the Spurs limited the minutes of their star players and went just 8-5 SU and 3-12 ATS. But when the postseason began, the Spurs had no trouble flipping the “on” switch, dominating Game 1 on both sides of the court in a 106-74 blowout victory.

The win brought San Antonio’s home record to 11-3 SU and ATS over the team’s last 14 home playoff games.

In six games against the Grizzlies since March 29, 2015, the Spurs are 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS per the OddsShark NBA Database. Five of those six wins were by double-digits.

The Grizzlies have been in a tailspin since the middle of March, and the Spurs aren’t the type of team that allows struggling opponents to get back on track. Sunday’s blowout loss was Memphis’ third straight defeat by at least 21 points, dropping the Grizzlies to 1-11 SU and 4-8 ATS over their last 12 games.

With leading scorers Marc Gasol and Mike Conley out, the Grizzlies simply don’t have enough firepower to keep up with a team as deep as the Spurs.

Tuesday night’s total is set at 187 points. The UNDER is 4-0 in San Antonio’s last four games overall and 5-2 in the last seven games between the Spurs and Grizzlies.

When the series goes to the Grindhouse for Games 3 and 4, the Grizzlies will have their best chance at stealing a game in this best-of-seven series. But facing the best home team in the NBA on its home court, Memphis can only hope to make it a game this time around in Game 2.
