UFC Fight Night, dos Anjos vs. Alvarez odds: Favorite dos Anjos seeks his 6th straight win

Betting favorite Rafael dos Anjos and underdog Eddie Alvarez headline the UFC Fight Night 90 card on Thursday night in Las Vegas.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Rafael dos Anjos is 10-1 over his last 11 fights including a current five-fight win streak. He will try to extend that run in the main event of UFC Fight Night 90 against Eddie Alvarez this Thursday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Dos Anjos, the 31-year-old lightweight champion, is a -350 favorite to defend his title in Thursday night’s fight over Alvarez at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Dos Anjos has been the cream of the crop in the lightweight division in recent years, becoming a more well-rounded fighter by adding a strong striking game to his Brazilian jiu jitsu base.

Alvarez is a former lightweight champion in Bellator and has compiled a 2-1 record in the UFC, including a win over former UFC champion Anthony Pettis in his last fight. Alvarez is a tough competitor with solid striking and wrestling skills who could catch dos Anjos off guard if he isn’t dialed in for this fight. The Philadelphia native is a +265 underdog in this title bout.

In what should be a classic heavyweight slugfest, Roy “Big Country” Nelson is a slight favorite at -130 over Derrick Lewis at +100. Both of these fighters are heavy hitters with 13 of Nelson’s 21 career wins and 14 of Lewis’s 15 career wins coming by way of knockout.

Nelson is a slightly more polished fighter than Lewis, who relies heavily on the ground and pound game and could have trouble getting Nelson onto the mat. But if recent form is any indication, Lewis could be a good value pick coming off three straight wins while Nelson has lost five of his last seven fights.

Belal Muhammad has never lost a fight as a professional with a 9-0 record, but he’ll be a slight underdog at +100 making his UFC debut in a welterweight fight against Alan Jouban. Jouban (-130) has strong knockout power for this weight class with nine career knockouts through 17 professional fights.

Other fights on the card include Joseph Duffy (-380) vs. Mitch Clarke (+290), Vicente Luque (-450) vs. Alvaro Herrera (+325), Reginaldo Vieira (-145) vs. Marco Beltran (+115) and Gilbert Burns (-240) vs. Lukasz Sajewski (+190).
