Novak Djokovic has won the Australian Open five times in the last six years, including wins in both 2015 and 2016. The Serbian superstar hopes to start the 2017 season off with another grand slam title.
Australian Open odds 2017: Djokovic, Murray favorites on tournament odds for Melbourne
Novak Djokovic will be trying to pick up his third straight Australian Open title this month in Melbourne, with Andy Murray his top rival for the event according to sportsbooks.

Djokovic is going off at +150 to win the Australian Open in Melbourne at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Since the start of the 2015 season, Djokovic has won five of the eight grand slam titles. At the Qatar ExxonMobil Open last week in Doha, Djokovic triumphed over Andy Murray in the final to pick up his first singles title of 2017.
Murray is going off as a co-favorite to win the Australian Open at +150. Murray surged up the World Rankings board to No. 1 last season and earned Player of the Year honors, leading the ATP in tournament titles with nine and tournament finals appearances with 13.
The 29-year-old has three grand slam titles under his belt including a win at Wimbledon last year, but has never won the Australian Open despite having advanced to the finals five times since 2010.
The only tennis player who has won more than one grand slam title since the start of the 2014 season besides Djokovic is Stan Wawrinka, who has won one in each of the last three years. Wawrinka won the Australian Open in 2014 and the final grand slam title in 2016 with a win in the US Open.
Wawrinka could offer some value for bettors who don’t want to bet on the chalk in this event at +1100 on the tennis betting lines to win the tournament.
Rafael Nadal (+1200) and Roger Federer (+1600) could meet in the third round this year due to their recent dips in the world rankings. Both players were plagued by injuries in 2016, with Federer missing the final six months of the season due to troubles with his knee.
It would be great for tennis if both of these veterans could stay healthy this season, and a third-round clash between these two rivals would be a treat.
Other potential contenders to win the Australian Open include Milos Raonic (+1600), Kei Nishikori (+2200), Nick Kyrgios (+3300), and Grigor Dimitrov (+3300). Raonic has eight career singles titles under his belt and finished runner-up in a brilliant run at Wimbledon last season.
