TCU Horned Frogs
The Horned Frogs dispelled the myth that the Big 12 was just a two-horse race between the two Oklahoma schools when they stomped out Oklahoma State, 44-31, as 9.5-point road underdogs.
After a down year on defense last season, the Horned Frogs seem to be back on track this year, holding Arkansas to just seven points in a 28-7 road win back in Week 2 and keeping Oklahoma State’s offense in check in Week 4. The numbers will rarely look pretty in the offense-laden Big 12, but even just a few big stands a game can make all of the difference.
Since 2006, TCU is an impressive 12-3 SU and 13-2 ATS over 15 games when coming off a bye. The Horned Frogs had a bye week after their win over Oklahoma State.
West Virginia Mountaineers
This weekend’s game will give bettors a chance to see how good this West Virginia team is. Since losing 31-24 at Virginia Tech in Week 1, the Mountaineers have blown out each of their last three opponents by over three touchdowns. But those opponents were East Carolina, Delaware State, and Kansas; — all teams that West Virginia was expected to blow out.
In their last seven games as an underdog, the Mountaineers are just 1-6 SU and ATS.
Saturday’s total is set at 67.5 points. The UNDER is 3-0 in the last three games between these two teams, according to the OddsShark College Football Database.
TCU looks like the genuine article so far this season, but the Big 12 has been far from predictable in 2017. West Virginia could announce itself as a contender with an upset win on the road like the one that the Horned Frogs scored in Stillwater two weeks ago.
