Alabama Crimson Tide
The Crimson Tide made quick work of their tune-up opponent Mercer last Saturday, winning 56-0 to improve to 11-0 SU and 5-6 ATS on the season.
It was the team’s second shutout of the season and the fifth time in 11 games that the defense has held an opponent to seven points or less. Alabama’s 41.4 points per game on offense rank seventh best in the nation and its 10.2 points per game against on defense is the best in the nation.
Since crushing Vanderbilt 59-0 on the road, the Crimson Tide have looked vulnerable in beating Texas A&M by only eight and Mississippi State by only seven. Before going 0-2 ATS over its last two road games, Alabama was 10-0 SU and 8-1-1 ATS over its previous 10 per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn’s offense is far better than what it was back in a Week 2 14-6 road loss against Clemson. The Tigers have scored at least 40 points in seven of their last eight games, including an impressive 40-17 home win over Georgia.
The blown lead in their 27-23 road loss to LSU is a clear blemish on the schedule, but Auburn would still likely advance into the College Football Playoff as a two-loss SEC champion. Auburn is 11-0 SU and 6-3-2 ATS in its last 11 games at home.
Saturday’s total is set at 47.5 points. The UNDER is 12-2 in Auburn’s last 14 games played in Week 13.
The Iron Bowl is always one of the most intense rivalry games in college football. But with so much on the line this year, this season’s Iron Bowl will have even more of a playoff feel to it, and the team that emerges victorious will become a clear favorite to win the National Championship in 2017.
