Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Despite giving up a touchdown with 51 seconds left to fail to cover the spread, the Fighting Irish still improved to 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS over their last seven games with last Saturday’s 48-37 win over Wake Forest.
Brandon Wimbush finished the game with 280 passing yards and a passing touchdown to go along with 110 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. That was Notre Dame’s first win by fewer than 20 points this season, but it was still by double digits.
The Fighting Irish have struggled in the month of November in recent seasons with a 6-8 SU and 3-11 ATS record over their last 14 November games, per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Miami Hurricanes
No. 7 Miami is still trying to earn respect despite having a 13-0 SU and 9-4 ATS record over its last 13 games.
After a couple of uninspiring wins as double-digit favorites against Syracuse and North Carolina, the Hurricanes picked up an impressive 28-10 win at home over Virginia Tech as 2.5-point favorites last Saturday. The Hurricanes are 7-0 SU and ATS in their last seven games played in the month of November.
Saturday’s total is set at 57.5 points. The UNDER is 6-0 in Miami’s last six games.
With no conference championship game on the horizon, Notre Dame needs to win out if it hopes to make its case that it belongs in the College Football Playoff. If Miami loses this game and goes on to win the ACC as a one-loss champion, this head-to-head result could be what keeps the Hurricanes out of the playoff.
Miami can keep control of its own destiny with an upset win and break out of a 3-11 SU and 4-12 ATS slump in the team’s last 16 games as an underdog.
