The betting underdog has gone 5-3 straight up and against the spread in the last eight New Orleans Bowl matchups. As the underdog in the New Orleans Bowl this year facing the Troy Trojans, the North Texas Mean Green hope that trend will continue this Saturday.
Bowl game odds 2017: Saturday betting favorites include Oregon, Troy, Colorado State
Bowl season gets underway on Saturday, with betting favorites at the sportsbooks for the day including the Oregon Ducks in the Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State.

North Texas is a 6.5-point underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. These two teams have history against each other as former conference rivals in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans had the upper hand in this head-to-head series in recent years with a 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS record in their last eight games against the Mean Green.
While the New Orleans Bowl has seen plenty of upsets in recent years, the Las Vegas Bowl has tended to go as expected. The betting favorite is 10-1 SU and 7-4 ATS over the last 11 Las Vegas Bowl matchups. This will be a trend that the Oregon Ducks will look to extend with a win and cover as 7.5-point favorites against the No. 25 Boise State Broncos.
Saturday Bowl Games Betting Odds
New Orleans Bowl: Troy (-6.5) vs. North Texas
Las Vegas Bowl: Boise State vs. Oregon (-7.5)
New Mexico Bowl: Marshall vs. Colorado State (-5.5)
Camellia Bowl: Arkansas State (-3.5) vs. Middle Tennessee
Bettors wondering why the 7-5 SU and 6-6 ATS Ducks are a favorite over the 10-3 SU and 8-5 ATS Mountain West champions should look no further than a healthy Justin Herbert at quarterback. The Ducks went 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS and averaged 52.1 points per game in seven games with Herbert in the lineup compared to 1-4 SU and ATS with 15 points per game without him.
The Marshall Thundering Herd square off against the Colorado State Rams as 5.5-point underdogs on Saturday in the New Mexico Bowl. The New Mexico Bowl has produced some high scoring affairs in recent seasons with six of the last eight New Mexico Bowl matchups going OVER the posted total. Marshall is 11-3 ATS in its last 14 games played in the month of December.
Saturday’s bowl action wraps up with the Camellia Bowl between the Arkansas State Red Wolves (-3.5) and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. Middle Tennessee ended its regular season with a win, but that may not work to the Blue Raiders’ advantage as the team is 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in its last six games coming off a victory.
