The Tigers shook off a midseason road slip-up against the Syracuse Orange to end the year on a six-game winning streak and with a 12-1 SU and 8-4-1 ATS record. Clemson has been playing its best football of the year over its last four games going 4-0 SU and ATS and outscoring opponents 164 to 30 in a stretch of games that included conference tests against Florida State and Miami.
The defending national champions finished the regular season ranked second in the nation in scoring defense allowing only 12.8 points per game.
In their last six games against SEC opponents, the Tigers are 5-1 SU and ATS including a 1-1 SU and 2-0 ATS record against Alabama per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama was the only team to finish the regular season with fewer points surrendered per game than Clemson allowing 11.5 points per game while also ranking second in yards against per game with 258. The Crimson Tide left their postseason fate in the hands of the College Football Playoff committee after losing the Iron Bowl 26-14 in Auburn, but were ultimately selected despite failing to capture their conference title. Monday night’s total is set at 47 points. These two teams have combined for 85 and 66 points in their last two meetings.
This is the rubber game that college football fans around the country wanted. After two extremely exciting and well-played games between the Tigers and Crimson Tide decided the last two national champions, this year’s matchup will bring this trilogy to a close and send one of these teams one step closer to its second national title in three years.
