Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of four drivers participating in Sunday’s Daytona 500 who has won this race twice. Earnhardt Jr. hopes to become the first of these active drivers to win the race for a third time.
2017 Daytona 500 odds: Earnhardt Jr. leads betting lines for race to kick off NASCAR season
Dale Earnhardt Jr. enters the Daytona 500 as the favorite to win the event at the sportsbooks this Sunday afternoon over Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.


The No. 88 car driven by Earnhardt Jr. is going off as a +450 favorite to win the Daytona 500 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The other drivers who have won this event twice are Jimmie Johnson (+1000), Matt Kenseth (+1400) and Michael Waltrip (+10000). This will be Waltrip’s 30th appearance in the Daytona 500 and the final race of his career.
Last July, Earnhardt Jr. was diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms that forced him out of action for the second half of the season. He was medically cleared to return to action in 2017 in December, and he will try to make a big splash in his return this Sunday. Earnhardt Jr. won the Daytona 500 in 2014 and 2004.
Johnson is coming off a championship season in 2016 which was the seventh of his incredible career. Johnson is going off at +700 to win the title again in 2017, and he will look to start off his championship defense with a bang at the Daytona 500. He won this event in 2006 and 2013 and led NASCAR in wins overall last season with five.
Kenseth had eight top-five finishes last season including two wins and three runner-up spots. Kenseth won the Daytona 500 in 2009 and followed that up with another win here just three seasons later in 2012.
Brad Keselowski (+700 to win the Daytona 500) and Joey Logano (+900) are the two favorites behind Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the board in this event. Logano won in Daytona in 2015 and finished in sixth place last year
In 2016, Danny Hamlin (+1200) won the Daytona 500 over Martin Truex Jr. (+1400) in second, Kyle Busch (+1000) in third and Kevin Harvick (+1200) in fourth. Truex Jr. and Busch will both be looking for their first career win in the Daytona 500 while Harvick will be looking for his second with a win under his belt back in 2007.
