Wimbledon odds 2017: Federer, Kvitova leading the tournament betting lines

Roger Federer will seek his eighth career Wimbledon title this July and is the favorite to win it at the sportsbooks, while Petra Kvitova holds the small edge in the women’s draw.

Roger Federer earned his 18th grand slam title victory earlier this year with a win over Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open. After taking the clay portion of the season off to rest, Federer will try to pick up another grand slam title at Wimbledon.

Federer is a +200 favorite to win the event in England at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The 35-year-old showed no signs of rust in his return to action at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany last week, winning the event to pick up his fourth singles title victory of 2017.

The decision to stay out of the way of Rafael Nadal during clay season appears to have been a wise one for the veteran, who will be in top form this month.

The last time that Federer won the Australian Open and Nadal won the French Open back-to-back was in 2010. That year, Nadal went on to win both Wimbledon and the US Open as well. That result wouldn’t come as a surprise this year with the way that Nadal is playing.

Coming off a runner-up finish in the Australian Open, Nadal picked up four singles titles on clay include a run through the French Open in which he didn’t drop a single set. Nadal (+400 to win the French Open on the ATP tennis odds) isn’t as dominant on grass as he is on clay, but his level of play at the moment has the potential to translate to any surface.

Andy Murray (+350) and Novak Djokovic (+600) have combined to win each of the last four titles at Wimbledon, with Murray winning last year and in 2013 and Djokovic winning in 2014 and 2015. Other potential contenders include Milos Raonic (+1400), Nick Kyrgios (+1600) and Marin Cilic (+1600).

With Serena Williams out of action, the women’s side at Wimbledon is wide open. Petra Kvitova leads the field going off at +500 to win on the WTA tennis odds, followed by Karolina Pliskova (+550), Garbine Muguruza (+900), Johanna Konta (+1200), Venus Williams (+1200), Angelique Kerber (+1400), and Jelena Ostapenko (+1400).

Venus Williams has won Wimbledon five times, but her most recent win came back in 2008. Kvitova is a two-time winner with Wimbledon titles in 2011 and 2014.
