With 61 home runs in last year’s Home Run Derby, Giancarlo Stanton set the all-time record for the most home runs in a single derby. Stanton will try to follow up that performance with another dominant one this Monday night in the 2017 Home Run Derby in Miami, Florida.
2017 Home Run Derby odds: Giancarlo Stanton looks to defend title as betting favorite
Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are the clear front-runners to win the 2017 Home Run Derby at the sportsbooks, with Cody Bellinger following that pair on the betting lines.

Giancarlo Stanton is a +165 betting favorite to win the award in his home park at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Known best for both his towering home runs and his proneness to injury, Stanton has managed to stay healthy so far in 2017, translating to an impressive stat line of 60 runs, 58 RBI, and 26 home runs.
Stanton is the No. 1 seed in this tournament and will square off against New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez (+1400 to win the Home Run Derby) in the first round.
While Sanchez has had a strong season by a catcher’s standpoint with 13 home runs on the year, it is another Yankee who Stanton will need to watch out for in his quest to repeat as Home Run Derby champion. Aaron Judge (+175) has absolutely crushed the ball in his rookie season, batting .329 with 30 home runs and 66 RBI.
At 6’7”, 282 pounds, Judge is an absolute beast who has the power to make home runs look as effortless as Stanton does. Judge will face Miami’s Justin Bour (+1400) in the first round of this event.
Another rookie who has impressed with his power stroke this season is Los Angeles’s Cody Bellinger. The young Dodger could be the best value on the 2017 Home Run Derby odds board at +900, smashing 25 home runs and 58 RBI so far this season in just 257 at bats.
Bellinger’s first-round opponent is Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon (+2000), who has the unenviable task of potentially needing to go through all three of Bellinger, Judge, and Stanton to win the derby.
The most evenly matched contest in the first round of the Home Run Derby is Minnesota’s Miguel Sano (+1000) against Kansas City’s Mike Moustakas (+1400). The winner of this head-to-head matchup will go on to face the winner Stanton vs. Sanchez in the second round.
