Should Riley struggle in his first year as head coach, Oklahoma State (+300 to win the Big 12 title) figures to be the team in best position to take advantage. The Cowboys went 10-3 SU and 8-5 ATS last season, and one of those losses was a controversial one against Central Michigan that the officials later admitted should have been an Oklahoma State win after a refereeing error.
The returns of Mason Rudolph at quarterback, James Washington at wide receiver and Justice Hill at running back promise for plenty of offensive production again this season in Stillwater.
Could this be the year that the Texas Longhorns (+500) finally get back on track? The Charlie Strong era came to an end last season after the team went 5-7 SU and 6-6 ATS, its third straight losing season under Strong.
The Longhorns got one of the most coveted coaches on the market last offseason in Tom Herman, who should make an immediate impact with the talent he has to work with but will likely need time to turn the Longhorns back into a playoff contender.
Other potentials to win the conference title this season include Kansas State (+600), TCU (+1200), and West Virginia (+2000). Kansas State continues to remain relevant under head coach Bill Snyder, finishing last season with a 9-4 record for the program’s fourth season with at least nine wins over the last six years.
