Those Trojans will also be in action on Saturday as the Heisman Trophy favorite Sam Darnold gets the chance to build up some stats early against the Western Michigan Broncos. USC ended 2016 on a 9-0 SU and 7-2 ATS run and will try to build on that success and win the Pac-12 for the first time since 2008.
Western Michigan is 15-1 SU and 11-4-1 ATS over its last 16 games, but the Broncos have some rebuilding to do with former head coach P.J. Fleck and quarterback Zach Terrell no longer with the team. They are a 27-point road underdog at USC.
While not as big of a game as Alabama vs. Florida State, No. 11 Michigan (-4) vs. No. 17 Florida at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas figures to be another highlight on this week’s betting card. Both of these teams had a disappointing finish to 2016, with Michigan going 1-3 SU and ATS over its last four games and Florida going 1-2 SU and ATS over its last two.
Jim Harbaugh has done a fine job of building Michigan back up into a contender, but the Wolverines still need to prove they can win on the road. The Wolverines are 3-7 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a road favorite of a touchdown or less per the OddsShark College Football Database.
In the final game between two ranked teams this weekend, the No. 21 Virginia Tech Hokies (-4.5) and the No. 22 West Virginia Mountaineers meet at FedExField in Landover, Md. on Sunday. Both teams got to 10 wins in 2016.
