Florida Gators
The Gators looked fairly hopeless on offense in their season opening loss to the Michigan Wolverines. Florida rushed for only 11 yards and finished the day with 192 yards, and the offense didn’t score any points after the team’s opening possession field goal as the other 14 points came from two interception returns.
With last year’s leading running back and wide receiver still serving team suspensions, there is legitimate cause for concern on offense. Feleipe Franks will be back under center after being benched in favor of Malik Zaire againt Michigan.
With their scheduled tune-up game against Northern Colorado canceled last Saturday, the Gators will have to try to figure things out on offense this week. The Gators are 26-4 SU and 16-12-2 ATS in their last 30 games played in September per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee had only 14 points through the first three quarters of its 42-41 season opening win against Georgia Tech, but 14 points in the fourth quarter and in overtime erased that slow start in a hurry.
Quinten Dormady is a significant drop off under center from Joshua Dobbs, and the offense could run into some trouble if Florida contains John Kelly and forces Dormady to beat them with his arm. Tennessee is 2-11 SU and 6-7 ATS in its last 13 games as an underdog.
Saturday’s total is set at 49.5 points. The OVER is 9-2 in Tennessee’s last 11 games.
With quarterback Jacob Eason going down with an injury for Georgia, the race in the SEC East looks like it could be wide open this season. These head-to-head games are going to play a big role in determining who wins the top spot, and the Gators need to make use of their home field advantage in this one.
