Week 5’s opening college football lines include lots of interesting road favorites
Here’s a look at the early college football odds at the sportsbooks, including a busy Friday night.


No. 14 Miami is a 5.5-point road betting favorite in Durham at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Dating back to last season, the Hurricanes are 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS over their last seven games. The Blue Devils are off to a strong start in 2017 as well, opening the year with a 4-0 SU and ATS record.

Elsewhere on Friday night, the No. 5 USC Trojans are 4-point road favorites facing the No. 16 Washington State Cougars.
USC has won each of its last nine games against Pac-12 opponents, but enters this game with a 1-4 ATS record in its last five games. The Cougars are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games played in Week 5.
Friday’s college football card also features two less prominent matchups of BYU (-3.5) at Utah State and Nebraska (-7) at Illinois. Nebraska and Illinois are both 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS over their last six games per the OddsShark College Football Database.
USC at Washington State is one of three games between two ranked opponents this week.
The other two are on Saturday in No. 2 Clemson (-6.5) at No. 12 Virginia Tech and No. 24 Mississippi State at No. 13 Auburn (-9.5).
Auburn finally got its offense back on track last Saturday with a 51-14 road win over Missouri. Clemson carries an 11-game road winning streak into this potential preview of the ACC title game.
In other SEC action, No. 1 Alabama is a 28-point home favorite, hosting the Mississippi Rebels and No. 7 Georgia is a 6.5-point road favorite visiting Tennessee.
Alabama left little doubt about its status as the top team in the country with last Saturday’s 59-0 road blowout over Vanderbilt. With that win, the Crimson Tide extended their conference winning streak to 18 games.
Tennessee has won 12 of its last 13 games at home, but is just 2-5 SU in its last seven games against Georgia.
