USC Trojans
By avoiding a loss through the team’s first four games, USC has managed to remain in the AP Top 25 and likely still controls its own destiny for a College Football Playoff spot.
But the Trojans are living on the edge with a 1-3 ATS record and Sam Darnold appears to be caught in a bit of a sophomore slump. The previous Heisman Trophy front runner has already thrown seven interceptions this season, two more than he did in his entire 2016 campaign.
Historically, the Cougars have been a favorable matchup for USC. The Trojans are 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against Washington State per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Washington State Cougars
Mike Leach has officially rebuilt this Washington State team into a legitimate contender in the Pac-12. While the Cougars may not be at the top tier of the conference yet, they can certainly hang with anyone and have an early 4-0 SU and 2-2 ATS record coming into this game.
Luke Falk has passed for 1,378 yards and 14 touchdowns with just one interception this season, and might start earning himself some Heisman hype with an upset this week. Washington State is just 1-8 SU and 3-6 ATS in its last nine games as a home underdog.
Friday night’s total is set at 65 points. The UNDER is 3-1 in the last four games between these two teams.
While USC will be playing its second straight game on the road in a short week, Washington State will be playing its fifth straight game at home. The Trojans are not in top form at the moment, and if the Cougars hope to pick up a statement win and announce themselves as a serious threat to the rest of the conference, this would be a great spot to do it in.
