Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings jumped out to a 17-0 lead last Sunday in a game against the New Orleans Saints that didn’t seem like it had much room for drama. But instead of cruising to an easy win, Minnesota relinquished its lead on a New Orleans touchdown with 3:01 left in the game.
This remarkably proved to be the first of four lead changes in the final stages of the game, capped off by an improbable 61-yard touchdown pass from Case Keenum to Stefon Diggs as time expired to punch Minnesota’s ticket into the next round.
Minnesota will try to carry the momentum of their wild finish into some rare road team success in the conference championship. The road team is 0-8 SU in the last eight conference championship games and 0-5 ATS over the last five.
Philadelphia Eagles
Lacking the firepower the team possessed with Carson Wentz under center, the Eagles relied heavily on their defense in a 15-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons last week.
Nick Foles did a fine job of managing the game completing 76.7% of his passes for 246 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Philadelphia has covered the spread on the Vegas lines in six of its last seven games as a postseason underdog.
Sunday’s total is set at 39 points. The UNDER is 8-1 in Minnesota’s last nine January road games according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
Philadelphia finished the regular season ranked fourth in both total defense and scoring defense behind the Vikings who ranked No. 1 in both categories. Yards and points will be hard to come by in this one which should set the stage for a close and physical game down the stretch.
