2018 Daytona 500 odds: Keselowski the betting favorite to win opening NASCAR event

Brad Keselowski will try to win the Daytona 500 for the first time in his career this Sunday, and he’s the chalk at the sportsbooks over Denny Hamlin.

Brad Keselowski picked up three wins on the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule. In 2018 he will try to kick off his Cup series with a victory at the Daytona 500 this Sunday afternoon.

Keselowski is a +700 favorite on the odds to win the Daytona 500 at sportbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Team Penske member is coming off a strong season in 2017 in which he finished in the top five 15 times with three wins and four runner-up results. In the Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona last week, Keselowski earned the win to gain some confidence on this track heading into this weekend’s big race.

In winning the Clash, Keselowski edged out his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano (+1200 to win the Daytona 500), who finished the race in second place. Logano has enjoyed his share of success at the Daytona International Speedway, winning the Clash here in 2017 and the Daytona 500 in 2015 as well.

After picking up only one win in a disappointing 2017 campaign last year, Logano would love to get his 2018 Cup Series off to a strong start with a win on Sunday.

The two most recent winners of the Daytona 500 were Kurt Busch (+2200) last year and Denny Hamilin (+1000) in 2016. Jimmie Johnson (+1400) is a two-time winner in Daytona, earning the top spot in this race for the first time back in 2006 and then again in 2013.

Alex Bowman (+2800) made an immediate impact in the No. 88 car with a pole-winning performance at Daytona this month. The 24-year-old appears to have a bright future in the sport, but he’d be the first driver to win this race from the pole position since 2000 if he is able to do so this weekend.

Other top contenders to win this year’s Daytona 500 include Justin Marks (+1000), Kevin Harvick (+1200), Chase Elliott (+1200), Kyle Larson (+1200), Ricky Stenhouse (+1400), and Martin Truex Jr. (+1400). Truex Jr. will try to pick up where he left off after winning the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup last season.
