Alexander Rossi is one of six drivers in this Sunday’s field who has previously won the Indianapolis 500. Rossi will try to return to the winner’s circle in the 102nd running of the Indy 500.
2018 Indy 500 odds: Alexander Rossi is the betting favorite for Sunday’s marquee event
Alexander Rossi will enter this Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 as the favorite to win at the sportsbooks, ahead of Helio Castroneves, Josef Newgarden, and Will Power.

Rossi is going off at +800 on the odds to win the Indianapolis 500 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The 2016 Indy 500 winner has been the most consistent driver in the IndyCar Series thus far in 2018, finishing in the Top 5 in four of the first five races of the series including two third-place finishes and a win at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. With a previous win in Indianapolis under his belt and good form so far in 2018, Rossi should at the very least be in the mix this Sunday.
The only driver sitting higher in the IndyCar Series standings than Rossi heading into this weekend’s race is Josef Newgarden. Newgarden (+1000 on the Indy 500 odds) has only two Top 5 finishes this season, but both came in the form of wins as the Team Penske driver has scored victories in the Phoenix Grand Prix and the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.
Newgarden’s Team Penske teammate Will Power is also going off at +1000 to win this Sunday’s race. Power has had a boom-or-bust season so far in 2018, finishing 10th or worse in three of his five races but then runner-up in Long Beach and winner of the IndyCar Grand Prix earlier this month. Both Power and Newgarden are looking for their first victory in the Indianapolis 500.
Helio Castroneves (+1000) on the other hand will be gunning for his fourth win of the Indy 500. Castroneves would become just the fourth driver in history to win the Indianapolis 500 four times with a victory on Sunday, with the last one to do so coming all the way back in 1991.
Other past winners in the field include 2008 winner Scott Dixon (+1200), 2013 winner Tony Kanaan (+1500), 2014 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay (+1200) and last year’s winner Takuma Sato (+3000). Ed Carpenter (+1200), Sebastian Bourdais (+1200) Simon Pagenaud (+1200) and Marco Andretti (+1500) round out the list of top contenders heading into Sunday.
