Captain Tsubasa in the house for the World Cup!

Tonight's game between Japan and Tunisia in Monterrey for Group F is going to be the 1,000th World Cup game ever.

To commemorate this –and owing to the huge fandom his work has in Mexico– Yōichi Takahashi, creator of Captain Tsubasa (Super Campeones in LatAm, Flash Kicker in earlier English dubs) released a special illustration.

It features several of his most famous characters dressed in Mexico's colors, headlined by Tsubasa (Oliver Atom in several dubs) and Ricardo Espadas, who was inspired by the immortal Mexican legend Jorge Campos.
