The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of several teams interested in signing Bronson Arroyo, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Arroyo has not been able to find a team willing to give him a three-year deal and has struggled to generate much interest as Spring Training approaches.

Arizona has been looking to bolster its pitching staff all offseason. The Diamondbacks have discussed a trade with the Cubs for Jeff Samardzija on and off the past few months, though it appears they are not willing to give up what it takes to acquire him. In addition, the Diamondbacks have been one of the top contenders for Ervin Santana or Ubaldo Jimenez.
The attraction of Arroyo over either Santana or Jimenez comes in that he was not made a qualifying offer by the Reds. That means that any team that signs him will not be required to forfeit a draft pick. The Diamondbacks have the 16th overall selection in the 2014 draft.

Arroyo has been struggling to find a deal this offseason and may not even have received any solid offers from a team at this point. He has been looking for a third year on his contract, something nobody appears willing to give out to a soon-to-be 37-year-old pitcher. Cafardo speculates that a strong two-year offer could be enough to ink Arroyo at this point.
Certainly, Arroyo seems like he could help out just about any team’s starting rotation. He has been remarkably consistent the past few years, maintaining an ERA between 3.74 and 3.88 in four of the past five seasons. Furthermore, he has tossed at least 199 innings each of the past nine years.
