Inter Milan vs. Torino, final score 1-0: Five unbeaten for nerazzurri

Are Inter having a late-season re-revival? It’s now been five games unbeaten for the nerazzurri, who just might be hoping to capitalize on the misfortunes of Fiorentina and Napoli.

With Walter Mazzarri’s normally cautious style of play, and Torino visiting with two straight losses under their belt, it came as little surprise that the first half at the San Siro was rather dull. In fact, it caused Inter president Erick Thohir to fall asleep.

There were a few minutes of excitement, however, right around the thirty-minute mark. First Hernanes had a shot blocked, then Rodrigo Palacio got on the end of a cross from Fredy Guarín, but Daniele Padelli made a great save to keep Torino even. But in the 30th minute, there was nothing the granata keeper could do to stop Palacio. This time it was Esteban Cambiasso who set up his fellow Argentine and, despite being off-balance, Palacio managed to loop his header over Padelli and into the far corner of the net.

After Inter took the 1-0 lead into the break, the visitors came out fighting, eager to avoid a third straight defeat. Jasmin Kurtić got on the end of a ball from Alessio Cerci, but his compatriot in Inter’s goal, Samir Handanović, managed to push away. Shortly thereafter, Handanović was forced into action again, this time saving a shot from Cerci himself.

All in all, though, Toro failed to look like a side pushing for a chance at Europe next season. By the final ten minutes, it was Inter that were bossing the game once more, and unsurprisingly, they’re the ones walking away with all three points.
