As expected, the Whitecaps-Islanders match was a tough slog for both sides. The field was in questionable condition and the quality of play was largely reflective of that. Neither team scored, which probably suited the Whitecaps just fine as the series returns to Vancouver for the final leg.

In the day’s other match, the Montreal Impact took a 1-0 aggregate lead on Leonardo Di Lorenzo’s goal. That match now heads back to Carolina.
