Sounders Win Fifth Straight, Closing In On Dallas

With the Sounders’ 2-1 win over Chivas USA, the team that was sitting at 15 points through 15 matches now has 33 points in its past 14.

They’ve now won five straight and sit at 48 points, currently tied for the fourth best total in MLS, and just two points fewer than FC Dallas. Although the Hoops have two games remaining, they are against Real Salt Lake and the Galaxy, while the Sounders end their season with a visit to reeling Houston.

If the Sounders were to win on Saturday, they would also tie the single-season record for most consecutive wins in a season that did not include shootouts (DC United won 11 straight in 1999).

Steve Zakuani and Osvaldo Alonso scored the Sounders’ goals.
