The Eagles midfielder picked-up his first yellow in the 34th minute for a poor challenge on Jimmy Briand. Now tracking back against defender Revelliere, the Argentine earned his second booking.
Benfica had hoped to pull even with Lyon atop Group B with a win, but Lyon’s path to nine points has been paved by Gaitan’s exclusion.
