In a shocking turn of events, Guardian boy wonder David Conn has again lamented the woeful debt issues associated with English football in a crisp, clean 1,000+ word rant. Equal parts genius and irritating, Conn’s ability to dissect the disease that is debt and it’s subsequent plaguing of some of English football’s most historic remains unmatched in the field of football journalism.
The Sky Continues To Fall! More David Conn Lamenting English Football’s Woeful Debt Issues
If only we enjoyed reading about the sky falling as much as Conn enjoys informing us.
There isn't a club who's behind a pound or two that can avoid his charm, while in recent times, Manchester United and Liverpool enjoy the brunt of his wit, wisdom and abilities.
Most recently, Conn has recalled the words of former FA chairman Lord Triesman’s 2008 warning to English clubs that debt would riddle and destroy all in its path. Conn pontificates with words and phrases the likes of ‘shredding of Liverpool’s dignity’, and ‘Manchester United’s sense of looming crisis’, while supporters run for cover.
While fans and players of English football’s most historic are currently feeling the brunt of certain American owners not heeding the words and warnings of Triesman, Conn remains suitably devoted to annotating a breakdown of the finances that threaten to destroy institutions.
I only wish he’d spread some good news every once in a while.
