Shockingly, the team who finished dead last in the last tournament in Mexico, San Luis, is taking on one of the giants of football in the CONCACAF region, Club America, in a match to hold on to the lead in Group Two. San Luis are on a great run of form, while America have looked shaky as of late. It’s hard to believe it, but San Luis are probably the favorites in this match.
After an embarrassing loss to Atlas, San Luis have taken maximum points from their last two matches. America, on the other hand, are yet to win in the month of October. Star striker Vicente Vuoso and playmaker Daniel Montenegro are not playing up to the best of their abilities. They’re both good enough that they could explode at any moment, so it’s hard to ever write America off completely, but their current form doesn’t lead anyone to believe they’re going to get maximum points. San Luis needs just a draw to retain control of Group Two, and they’ll probably do exactly that.
