Manchester United’s Michael Owen Out With Injury Setback, Again

Unfortunately for Owen, the injury setbacks have plagued the latter stages of his career in English football and have become all too familiar signs that Owen’s best playing days are well behind him. Having only started 11 of his 31 matches last campaign, Owen could now be considering an early retirement at only 30.

Still, for all of Owens injury worries, he’s a player that’s reinvented himself at least somewhat. Having lost the searing pace that allowed him to terrorize defenders in his teens and early twenties, Owen has figured out a way to still score goals. He grabbed two in United’s Carling Cup third round victory over Scunthorpe in September and also bagged a crucial late equalizer away to Bolton later that week.
