Manchester City-Newcastle: Jonas Gutierrez Pulls Magpies Even, 1-1 In 25th Minute

Eight minutes after giving up the first goal, Newcastle United has responded at Eastlands, with a long run with the ball from left wing Jonas Gutierrez leading to the Argentine’s 25th minute equalizer.

Gutierrez was need the center line when he was passed the ball by Fabricio Coloccini. The United winger raced down the left flank before cutting toward the penalty area, playing a ball for Shola Ameobi that was knocked down by City defender Vincent Kompany. The resulting ball came back to Gutierrez, whose first touch went over goalkeeper Joe Hart’s left shoulder and into the City net, making it 1-1.

The goal was only the third allowed by Manchester City this season
