Chelsea 2-1 Blackburn Rovers: Branislav Ivanovic Header Gives Chelsea The Lead

Branislav Ivanovic puts Chelsea ahead with seven minutes left to play at Ewood Park.

Nicolas Anelka sent the ball to Yuri Zhirkov, who cut back before sending a beautiful cross to the right side. Ivanovic was waiting unmarked just outside the area to send a header down and past Paul Robinson.

Blackburn haven't made this easy on visiting Chelsea, but have squandered a few terrific opportunities. Just two minutes before the go-ahead goal, Jason Roberts picked up the ball on the edge of the area and nutmegged Ashley Cole before beating Petr Cech in front of the Chelsea goal. Unfortunately for the home side, Roberts sent the ball just wide of the far post, losing out on the possibility for glory in his 100^th appearance for Blackburn.
