Jeff Cunningham didn't get the start, but that hasn't stopped him from having an early impact on FC Dallas' playoff match against Real Salt Lake.
Major League Soccer Playoffs, Real Salt Lake vs. FC Dallas, Leg 1: Jeff Cunningham Scores Equalizer
The one-time MLS career goals leader came on as a 33rd minute substitute and scored the equalizer about 10 minutes later. The game is currently tied 1-1 at the half.
Cunningham was able to get the ball in the box, avoided a couple defenders and then slipped the ball past Nick Riminando inside the near post. It was his 137th career goal in MLS regular season and playoffs, but his first playoff goal since 2005. Despite being one of the league's top scorers since then, this is actually the first time Cunningham's team has made the playoffs in five years when he was with the Colorado Rapids.
After an early goal in the 5th minute by Fabian Espindola, FC Dallas has done a reasonably good job of finding some equilibrium in a physical match.
FC Dallas defender Jair Benitez has received an early yellow card, but that is the only card that Kevin Stott has handed out despite calling 15 fouls.
