Sanna Nyassi becomes the first MLS player to ever score two goals in the Open Cup championship game as the Sounders erase a 1-0 deficit to beat the Columbus Crew 2-1. The match was played in front of an Open Cup record crowd of 31,311 at Seattle’s Qwest Field.

Kevin Burns put the Crew up in the 24th minute with a strike from about 15 yards out, but the Sounders controlled much of the match after that.
Nyassi scored his first goal when he took advantage of Crew goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum being a little too far out of the box. He scored his second goal when he pounced on Steve Zakuani’s attempted header that hit off the crossbar.
Robbie Rogers nearly equalized around the 87th minute, but his shot from 8 yards out hit off the underside of the crossbar.
