Wayne Rooney Due Back In Manchester On Monday
Rooney’s been struggling with an ankle injury for two months, having made only one appearance for his club since September. In that time, the England star has denied he was injured, threatened to leave his club, signed a new deal, and been sent on this injury-induced sabbatical. Meanwhile United’s found their first run of form, now sitting alone in second place of the English Premier League.
Coming off a season where he scored a career-high 26 league goals, Rooney has scored once in five appearances this season. His last appearance come on October 16, United's home match against West Bromwich Albion, when he was sent on in the 71st minute to replace midfielder Anderson.
After United's Saturday visit to Villa Park, the Red Devils get a week off before playing Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford (November 20). The Latics should provide a good opportunity for Rooney's return, their defense having allowed 21 goals through the season's first 12 matches.
