Stoke City 0-0 Liverpool: Reds Pick-Up Where They Left-Off On Wednesday

To the chagrin of Liverpool supporters, the Reds have picked up where they left-off mid-week, though that may be generous to Roy Hodgson's side. Then, Liverpool got an early goal from Fernando Torres, showing some hints of the team that beat Chelsea three days before. Today, Stoke and Liverpool have been even throughout, with the Potters troubling the Pepe Reina more often than Asmir Begovic has been tested.

But neither side has been particularly close to scoring, with Stoke City and Liverpool reaching halftime at the Britannia tied 0-0. Kenwyne Jones has had some promising moments, but the first half has been more readily characterized as waiting for Liverpool. Since their defeat of Chelsea, we've been waiting for the Reds to push on and claim their talent's promise, but against a Stoke side that should be cut open by Steven Gerrard, run through by Torres, Liverpool has reverted to their early season form.

With the second half about to start, Liverpool has 45 minutes to wake-up. Should they do so - find a goal and a win - they could end the day in fifth place.
