Olympique Marseille is through to the knockout stage of UEFA Champions League after their 3-0 win over Spartak Moscow. The French champions got second half goals from Loic Remy and Brandão to build on Mathieu Valbuena’s 18th minute opener, taking advantage of a team playing the last 30 minutes down a man.

The win move l’OM to nine points in Group F, securing at least second place. One point by Chelsea today against Zilina will claim the group for the Blues.
With one round of group play to go, Spartak Moscow is likely relegated to Europa League. With six points they can still cat l’OM, but Marseille holds the head-to-head tiebreaker by virtue of a +2 goal difference edge in the teams’ two matches. Zilina has no points but would have to win both of their remaining matches to have a chance to qualify for Europa.
That was UEFA Champions League’s first match of the day. Starting at 2:45 p.m. Eastern, the day’s other seven matches kick-off, games featuring the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich.
