Real Madrid controlled the first 35 minutes of their match in Amsterdam against Ajax and they finally have their goal to show for it. A quickly taken free kick in the center of the park was left for Xabi Alonso, who played a long ball over the top to Mesut Ozil. The ball was slightly behind the German and instead of coming back for the ball, Ozil met the ball at the penalty spot with a first touch back heel. The ball dropped back perfectly for Karim Benzema who coolly slotted the ball in the upper corner of the goal to put Madrid ahead on the gorgeous move.
Ajax Vs. Real Madrid: Madrid Goes Ahead With Dazzling Opener

Ajax entered the day a point behind Milan as those two battle out the last spot of progression in the group, while Madrid will advance through as group winners should the score line hold.
With Madrid carrying the play to Ajax, the Dutch club will have to find a way to change things, but it's abundantly clear that even at home they lack the quality to match Madrid. Their best player, Luis Suarez, has been starved of service up top and their best defending came in the early parts of the match when they were surrendering scoring chances, but managing to block the shots. It's looking far more likely that Madrid add a couple more before Ajax gets even one.
