It’s the type of lopsided result we have not seen ni the English Premier League since Chelsea’s first two results of the season, but with one man’s exploits overshadowing the blowout at Old Trafford, the talk of the weekend is less-likely to be Manhchester United than their five star, five goal striker, Dimitar Berbatov. With a put-back of his own shot in the 70th minute, Berbatov scored his fifth goal, putting United up 7-0.
Manchester United Vs. Blackburn: Fifth Goal From Dimitar Berbatov Has Red Devils Up 7-0
Again the play started with nani, though the winger player less a part in the seventh goal than he had in the previous three. The Portuguese’s part was merely bringing the ball into the attacking third, at which time he laid off to his right for Berbatov.
Berbatov carried the ball to the edge of the six before trying to cut back for Wayne Rooney. When Ryan Nelson blocked the pass, Berbatov had an open goal, Paul Robinson having moved to play the pass. The put back went uncontested into the net, bringing Berbatov’s season tally to a league-leading 11 goals.
Now in the 77th minute at Old Trafford, Berbatov is still on, looking for a sixth goal as Manchester United dominates Blackburn. The Red Devils will be top of the league at the final whistle, and perhaps as telling, they will have the league best goal difference, their +20 currently one ahead of Chelsea’s.
