UEFA Champions League Wednesday: Arsenal Fall To Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1

While Arsenal opened the scoring against Shakhtar Donetsk, it was the Ukrainian side that eventually took all three points, with the help of an own-goal by the Gunners. Theo Walcott kicked things off with a brilliant goal, winning a foot race to reach Jack Wilshere's chipped pass, which he sent past Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov from 20 yards. The home side found their equalizer through young Gunner Craig Eastmond, who put his own head on Dimitro Chigrynskiy's header. And then the visitors had their hopes dashed by a man they used to count as one of their own:

Arsenal were looking to make it to the break more or less intact, but their former man Eduardo dealt their hopes a huge blow at the stroke of the break. After Srna left Gael Clichy for dead on the left, he rushed down the byline and cut back for Eduardo to poke home with his left foot. 2-1, no celebration again from the (perhaps less now...nah) beloved ex-Gunner.
