Technically, Real Salt Lake's home unbeaten streak is still alive.
Major League Soccer Playoffs, Leg 2: FC Dallas Holds Off Real Salt Lake
That will no doubt be of little solace to the Claret-and-Blue. Robbie Findley's 79th minute goal tied the game, but left RSL one-goal short on aggregate and FC Dallas held on for the 3-2 aggregate victory.
FC Dallas will now play the winner of the Los Angeles Galaxy-Seattle Sounders series, currently being led by the Galaxy 1-0.
Findley did not start and was not having a great game, but his goal in the 79th minute did keep RSL’s slip hopes alive.
Findley jumped on a bouncing ball at the edge of the six-yard box and pushed it past Kevin Hartman, who had been outstanding up to that point. Findley had missed two golden opportunities earlier in the match, but one of them went off the crossbar and another was saved.
FC Dallas has gone mostly defensive with their substitutes, bringing on Zach Lloyd and Ruben Luna for Marvin Chavez and Jeff Cunningham.
