Report: Adriano To End Stay At Roma, Move To Corinthians

The Emperor's stay in Roma will be a short one, though his landing spot may different than what thought earlier this week. Adriano, who returned to the Italian Serie A this summer with Roma, will be moving back to Brazil this winter, according to reports out of Brazil. RedeTV! has since reported that Corinthians will bring the striker back to Brazil's Serie A, with an announcement expected late Friday.

Adriano had just left Flamengo in July, signing a three year deal with Roma for an estimated €5 million per season. He was expected to provide a needed target man (replacing Luca Toni) for team already possessing Mirko Vucinic and Francesco Totti, but with Marco Boriello’s loan from Milan at the beginning of the season, Adriano has found very little playing time, seeing only 142 minutes over three league matches.

Neither Roma nor Corinthians have confirmed the reports, though RedeTV!‘s quoted source have the deal finish at “lunchtime” in Rome. Official announcements are expected later today.

Adriano helped lead Flamengo to Brazil's Serie A title in 2009, returning from Italy, where he had been on the books with Internazionale since 2001. He scored 19 goals in 30 matches for Fla, helping them to their first national championship in 17 years while earning a return trip to Italy. But his time at the Stadio Olimpico has been a disappointment, with the 28-year-old set for another return home.
