Manchester United has continued to control the match's opening minutes, and while Arsenal has adjusted to the pressure United exerted in the match's opening moments, they've still failed to fully come into the contest. While Arsenal made some encouraging connections in the eighth and ninth minutes, building some momentum going into United's half, the hosts have controlled the ball, generating once speculative shot for Wayne Rooney, a cross in from the right, and two dead ball chances.

The first of the dead ball opportunities, earned after Arsenal gave a foul along their left flank, met with poor service from Anderson. The second chance led to United's second shot on goal, a shot from 38 yards out from Nani that dipped into Wojciech Szczesny;s arms, the `keeper calmly collecting the ball in the middle of goal.
