Ryan Giggs, making one of his first appearances since returning from a hamstring injury, has come on for Anderson, a move United typically makes when Giggs's skill on the ball can help kill of the clock.

Just moments after Giggs's substitution, United almost found another route to putting away the match. With Arsenal playing their line very high, Manchester United was able to play Wayne Rooney in behind Laurent Koscielny. At the edge of the penalty area, as the Arsenal defender had almost caught up to the play, Rooney tried to catch Wojciech Szczesny off his line. The 20-year-old `keeper's outstretched right arm palmed the ball clear, keeping Arsenal within one.
Moments later Rooney was nearly played in on goal again, though Sebastien Squillaci caught-up to the play before Rooney could generate a chance. While Theo Walcott would play a dangerous cross in one minutes later, in the 90th minute, Manchester United looks set to hold-on to their 1-0 lead.
