We mentioned this at the end of the last update, but wanting to get you the update on Wayne Rooney's "penalty kick" as soon as possible, we didn't have time to expound on it. Theo Walcott has come on for Andrei Arshavin with 15 minutes left, Arsene Wenger's final substitution.
Manchester United Vs. Arsenal: Theo Walcott On For Andrei Arshavin
It's been a poor day for Arshavin, who had seen a resurgence leading into today's game. The Russian Prince had seen a slow start to the season amidst questions regarding his condition. Over the last three weeks, however, Arshavin had both looked in shape and looked the part of one of the world's more innovative players. Today, however, Arshavin's been unable to take advantage of the inexperienced Rafael da Silva, with Manchester United's right back winning the few individual battles the pair had.
Arshavin's only moment of aggression came half-way through the first period when a scuffed a shot from outside the box just to the left of Edwin van der Sar's goal. Now, he's made way for the speedy Walcott, who will be tasked with beating left back Patrice Evra. Samir Nasri will likely shift to Arshavin's left side.
Now in the 85th minute, United maintains their 1-0 lead, with Arsenal failing to meaningfully threaten the defense since Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas came on.
