A calm has settled over Arsenal, who have looked the slightly better side since the 14th minute, when they made their initial, failed entry into the Manchester United area. Though the hosts have still seen a good amount of the ball, now Arsenal has actually shown an ability to build an attack, with Andrei Arshavin scuffing a 21-yard shot in the 21st minute. It wasn't a quality chance, and even if Arshavin had hit it well, it's unlikely Edwin van der Sar would have thought much of it. The important thing, though: Arsenal's starting to create chances, even if they're half ones.
Manchester United Vs. Arsenal: Gunners First Question Countered By Nani Threat
But just moments after Arshavin's dribbling shot went wide of goal, Manchester United created the best change of the match. Darren Fletcher was played a ball along the right flank, which the United midfielder half volleyed toward Wayne Rooney, 10 yards out at the far post. The ball was short, allowing Sebastien Squillaci to play it. The Arsenal defender, however, headed the ball directly to Nani at the edge of the area, whose volley toward Wojciech Szczesny's far post went just wide. Had it been on target, the ball would have been in - the play happened too fast for Szczensy to adjust.
Now in the 25th minute, Howard Webb has stopped play to have a conversation with Jack Wilshire, who just ran through Patrice Evra. The teams are still scoreless.
